Orthodontic Services in Carlisle, PA: Fastbraces®

Traditional braces may take up to three years to straighten teeth. Dr. Killian offers Carlisle, PA residents a faster alternative with Fastbraces®. This revolutionary new orthodontic technology can straighten teeth within three to 12 months.

Advantages of Fastbraces®

Dr. Killian offers Fastbraces® because they offer significant advantages over traditional braces. Many people find wearing braces embarrassing, and less time spent in them is a significant factor for many when considering orthodontic treatment. For those conscious about appearance, Clear Fastbraces® are available; however, they cost more and may increase treatment length.

In addition to the cosmetic benefits, Fastbraces® cause less friction, sensitivity and pain than traditional braces. They are also easier to clean. And even though braces have a reputation for being expensive, Fastbraces® are actually more affordable than traditional braces. With Fastbraces®, you can achieve the straight smile you want in less time, all without breaking the bank.

How Fastbraces® Work

Fastbraces® are available for both adults and children. However, adult treatments take longer than childhood orthodontic treatment, as the adult jaw has finished growing and is not as pliable as a child's. Even if you're an adult, you'll be out of braces faster if you choose Fastbraces® over traditional braces.

All braces work by straightening teeth roots. The direction in which a tooth grows depends on the orientation of the tooth root. If the root is not straight, the tooth will grow out tilted, crooked or otherwise misaligned.

While traditional braces straighten tooth roots, they first change the alignment of the tooth crowns. Only when the tops of the teeth are straight can the roots be moved. This lengthens the amount of time you spend in braces. Traditional braces spend the first year adjusting crown position, and only begin to move the roots in the second year. Fastbraces®, on the other hand, move the crown and root at the same time, right from the very beginning of treatment.

This is because Fastbraces® use triangular wire. The triangular shape doubles the distance between braces and allows Dr. Killian to use square wire from the moment braces are installed. Traditional braces, on the other hand, are installed with round wire, which offers less torque, or force, than the stronger square wire. With traditional braces, as teeth realign, Dr. Killian replaces the round wire with square wire. Not only are both the crown and root moved at the same time with Fastbraces®, you also skip the hassle of extra orthodontic appointments to replace your braces' wire.

Qualifying for Fastbraces®

Fastbraces® can straighten most teeth, but some conditions require more than just braces. An extreme underbite, temporomandibular jaw pain or impacted teeth require different treatment options. If you suffer from any of these conditions, Dr. Killian will design the right treatment plan for you.
